History

ALDER was founded in 1965 by its present general manager, Dr. Luciano Luciani, at that time already owning a Patent in formaldehyde production.

  • In 1966 the Company started the production, at its present works, of the mixed metal oxide catalyst for formaldehyde production.
  • In 1967 the first formaldehyde plant was started, its capacity was increased later in 1972, and a nearby coastal storage terminal was built to store the main formaldehyde production raw material: methanol.
  • In 1974 ALDER started developing a proprietary production process for paraformaldehyde, a formaldehyde derivative.
  • In 1981 ALDER started the production of another formaldehyde derivative: pentaerythritol, getting as byproduct also sodium formate.
  • In 1990 market demand compelled ALDER to build another formaldehyde plant.
  • In 1991 was internally developed a process to economically recover dipentaerythritol from the purges of the pentaerythritol production plant.

Since 1967 ALDER is engaged in selling the license, know how and basic engineering of its own proprietary processes for the production of formaldehyde, paraformaldehyde and pentaerythritol.
