Paraformaldehyde is a low molecular weight polymer of formaldehyde in solid form, which may be easily dissolved in water or in other reactants, in order to substitute with advantages the widely employed formaldehyde solution.
Paraformaldehyde is produced and sold in many different forms and concentrations, but the most economical, both as production cost as employment easiness, is the 90% flakes product.
The ALDER process allows to obtain such product in a rather simple plant, with minimum utilities consumption, minimum formation of undesired by-product and negligible pollution.
